Thursday, August 13, 2009 : Yogg down! Muphrid
Yogg-saron is down, folks! And I'd like to congratulate everybody who stuck out the long nights of skirting clouds, slaying tentacles, and turning away from skulls and Lunatic Gaze. This is a great moment for the guild, and I'm proud to have been here, with all of you guys, for it.

But the road ahead is still littered with challenges. Hard modes, on both 10 and 25-man, await us. The other three bosses of Trial of the Crusader (and its heroic mode) will occupy some of our time over the next few weeks. I personally want to see the bulk of the guild with 310% speed mounts, either from 10 or 25-man, and I have every confidence that we will make a strong push for the bonus rewards from Trial of the Grand Crusader--yes, perhaps even the server first for beating it with 25 attempts or more. We have it within us, of that I'm sure, and now is our time.

Tuesday, April 14, 2009 : Into Ulduar!
Ding! New content. In our first content release since the arrival of the Lich King, we have a new instance and new thrills ahead of us. No one is currently wearing "Best in Slot" anything as new toys await as the fruits of new conquest.

On the verge of this exciting time, I figured now would be a good time to update our welcome message with some reminders of why we do what we do.

1. We are small. The membership is capped to 35 members and we do not recruit warm bodies just for the sake of recruiting. Everyone here is expected to raid regularly. 30+ members gives us the flexibility to make raids happen every scheduled night (4 times per week) even if RL interferes with a couple of people.

2. Alts and casuals are not welcome in Intervention. It just does not work- mixing casual players with folks who are focused on progression. We have all seen it in other guilds. When you see a wide variety of faces each time you encounter a boss, collective raid knowledge and experience is decreased. Teaching an encounter to a new face detracts from the raid's ability to learn or farm the encounter.

3. Be there. Notice I have never once answered the question "What is the minimum expectation for me to raid?" We raid 4 nights per week. Yes, there are exceptions to the rule. Yes if you need to work late or have to attend a kid's play or travel out of town for work that outweighs WoW. But, you knew what you signed up for when the ginvite was extended: commitment to content and commitment to one another.

4. Play your toon to the best of your ability. We are not in the business of teaching people how to play. While we should work together to maximize each other's abilities, if there are skill concerns about someone, they should not be here. If you can't tank, heal, or DPS well, this is not a home for you.

5. Don't be a Shithead. We all know those players who are selfish drama queens. You notice they aren't wearing an Intervention tag. When in doubt, ask yourself if your actions or statements will HELP or HARM the guild. This guild is larger than any one person and EVERYONE, myself included, is replaceable.

We do not carry the same roster as we did three months ago or even two weeks ago. People sometimes change their priorities. That is OKAY. One's inability to make our schedule does not make them a bad person or even an enemy of mine. But my commitment to each of you is to preserve the spirit of this guild: High energy, fast paced clearing and exploration of content. Since inception, we have lost six people and each loss saddens me a little. But each time we lost someone, the situation was obtusely the same: their personal needs did not coincide with guild framework. That is okay. Most of these folks are welcome back with open arms once their personal life allows Intervention to be a part of it again.

The model works. We have raided nearly every scheduled raid night except for when content was clear. We came within three bosses of Immortal. We nuked every ??? mob in current content. We saw every piece of gear that was lootable from 3.0 - 3.09. We did Sarth3D.

Now, we stake our claim in Ulduar. Happy hunting folks.
